TOMS Shoes: One for One
TOMS Shoes is a social enterprise which PROMISES to donate 1 pair of shoes to the poor for every pair they sell! They have since donated one million pairs of shoes!
Their shoes (based on the pricings found on their website) is not expensive at all. It is significantly cheaper than many other brands, and they really believe and stand behind their social cause. Blake Mycoskie, is often found at the front lines in the 3rd world countries giving out these shoes.
When you buy TOMS Shoes, you are not purchasing a pair of shoes. You are purchasing a belief, a cause. You are funding at least 2 dreams; Blake's dream to meet footwear needs, and a child's dream to own a pair of shoes.
Blake spoke at the recent Global Leadership Summit, he recalled an incident when a mother was approaching him with tears. Tears of joy, because for the past 1 year, her 3 children have been sharing 1 pair of shoes and taking turns to go to school. Thus each child only goes to school once every 3 days. Now, they go to school everyday in their TOMS Shoes.
5th April 2011, the day without shoes.
Join more than a quarter million people worldwide to experience a day without shoes. A great conversation starter; when people ask about our shoes, we just say that millions of children around the world have no shoes. But it doesn't have to be that way, buy a TOMS's and a child will have shoes.
